As the UK races toward its 2030 target of a fully decarbonised power system, the need for scalable, reliable, and safe energy storage has never been more urgent.

Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are the linchpin of this transition—enabling grid stability, supporting intermittent renewables, and unlocking new revenue streams for energy operators.

By early 2025, the UK had already deployed around 5 GW of operational battery storage, with a staggering 127 GW in the development pipeline. The government aims to scale this to 27–30 GW by 2030, driven by initiatives like Clean Power 2030 and new financial incentives.

However, traditional containerised BESS units—often repurposed shipping containers—pose significant challenges:

  • Fire risk due to inadequate thermal management and explosion venting
  • Slow deployment timelines caused by complex on-site integration and regulatory hurdles

Enter the VASO By Eco BESS unit—a next-generation energy storage solution engineered for rapid deployment and superior fire safety.

Unlike conventional shipping containers, VASO units are:

  • Purpose-built with integrated fire suppression, explosion venting, and thermal isolation systems
  • Modular and pre-configured, enabling faster grid connection and reduced installation time—critical for meeting the UK's 2030 targets

By adopting VASO By Eco BESS technology, the UK can not only accelerate its clean energy goals but also ensure that safety and resilience are built into the foundation of its energy infrastructure.
