Pete Crouch has joined VASO as Head of Commercial Development at a time of major milestones for the Dumfries-based business including:

• The first housing development to utilise the VASO product granted planning permission to go-ahead at Closeburn;
• Work starting on VASO’s first production line of high-performance structural composite panels at a new factory in Dumfries; 
• A VASO showcase demo house planned to be constructed in the autumn;
• VASO securing more than £5m in investment from a range of organisations including PXN Ventures, Scottish Enterprise, South of Scotland Enterprise through a collaboration with Built Environment - Smarter Transformation (BE-ST), Innovate UK Loans Limited - a division of UK Research and Innovation, and Eco Group which will be the delivery partner for the initial VASO Global build projects.

With VASO’s structural composite panels made from recycled glass offering a solution to the housing crisis across the UK and beyond, Pete, who has more than 35 years of commercial experience, said it was the opportunity to make a positive difference to people’s lives which prompted his decision to join the business.

Pete said: “VASO is solving two problems at once, turning waste glass into the homes we urgently need, faster and more sustainably than traditional construction. 

“My role is to bring that solution to the market at scale, and I'm delighted to be joining the team which is creating real opportunity for the region and beyond whilst making a positive impact on the housing conditions where people live."

Pete joining the fast-growing business follows the recent appointment of Jim Patterson as Manufacturing and Engineering manager. Jim has 35 years’ experience leading production operations for global manufacturing giants ICI and DuPont.

Earlier this year VASO Global made two senior appointments to its board. Graham McDonald, a versatile and commercially driven business leader with extensive Board-level experience, joined as chairman. Douglas Morrison, Deputy CEO of BE-ST, whose mission is to accelerate Scotland’s transition to a zero-carbon built environment and construction sector, joined in a non-remunerated Strategic Advisor role.
