VASO Global appoints chairman to lead housing revolution charge
A dynamic industrialised construction business focused on transforming the UK and worldwide industry by converting waste glass into structural composite panels has appointed its chairman.
VASO Global, based in Dumfries and Galloway, has made the move to further strengthen its bid to help alleviate the housing crisis across the UK and abroad.
Following on from other high-profile appointments, VASO Global has now announced Graham McDonald as its company chairman.
Graham is a versatile and commercially driven business leader with extensive Board level experience.
He has led teams on a global basis across multiple jurisdictions demonstrating a proven ability to determine, develop and execute successful business strategies while delivering transformational change.
On his appointment, Graham said: “Joining the VASO Global board as its chairman is a hugely exciting opportunity. The team are set to deliver a game-changing product which will transform the housebuilding and construction sectors across the UK and the world.
“To have the chance to help maximise that opportunity at the helm of such an experienced and talented team, and provide the governance which will help this pioneering start-up fulfil its enormous potential, is a role which I am delighted and honoured to accept.”
Eddie Black, Co-Founder and Managing Director of VASO Global, said: “Graham’s appointment is a further step in the direction where we are taking the game-changing innovation of VASO Global to the forefront of the global housebuilding and construction sectors.
“Graham is well-known for his leadership in risk and governance, and will give the VASO Global board the guidance to deliver the best outcomes in the most dynamic, timely, and sustainable way.
“We are building a formidable, high calibre team at VASO Global with the expertise, experience and know-how to take this innovation to market which will deliver transformational change across the world.”
VASO Global designs and manufactures structural composite panels made from recycled glass for the housing and general construction markets.
The company recently invested in a new 60,000-square-feet manufacturing site in Dumfries, creating up to 70 jobs within the next five years.
VASO Global’s conversion of waste glass into high‑performance structural panels has been heralded as a potential contributing solution to the UK and Scottish housing crisis. It follows the Scottish Government’s declaration of a national housing emergency in 2024.
Engineered to deliver exceptional thermal performance and durability, VASO Global panels allow homes to be built rapidly and at scale while significantly reducing embodied carbon.
Thermally efficient buildings constructed with VASO Global panels create the ideal conditions for technologies such as heat pumps, solar, and battery storage to operate at their highest efficiency and lowest cost, reducing energy bills and lowering carbon emissions.
Graham’s appointment follows on from the announcement earlier this month that Douglas Morrison, Deputy CEO of Built Environment – Smarter Transformation (BE-ST), had joined the VASO Global board in a non-remunerated Strategic Advisor role.
